Here’s What’s Up
A lot of great things have happened this month with Coil & Connect so here’s a quick update on what you may have missed.
#MakerMonday with Sift Local
I was the first Maker featured in Sift Local’s #MakerMonday post! They have been an incredibly supportive community and I am so delighted that they reached out to me several months ago and I took the time to join. Their post covers a bit about me, how I started, my process and how you call can support.

So excited to launch #MakerMonday with Renee Kiffin from Fort Lauderdale, Florida! Renee is the owner of @coilandconnect • Here's her story • How did you get started as a maker? "I started making jewellery when I spent summer holidays with my grandmother in the country. My aunts taught me to make friendship bracelets and eventually beaded bracelets. I continued to make throughout prep school, high school and college." • What mediums do you work with? "I’m an artist at heart but when it comes to jewellery I work mostly with gemstones raw or polished, wire and cord." • What do you enjoy most about your craft? "I make jewellery as an outlet or distraction from tedious tasks or means of expressing myself through combining colour. It’s something easy for me to do and sometimes repetitive tasks like threading beads can be therapeutic in some way." • What's the best way for everyone to support you? "Encouragement goes a long way, sharing my creations and sharing resources that could help me grow as a small business owner and crafter, and of course support through purchasing something. I also love when my customers or friends buy something from years ago and pop up saying “Hey Renee, do you remember this? I wear it all the time!”. It’s pretty rewarding when someone shows their appreciation for your creations, no matter what it is." • Stay tuned every Monday to meet more Makers on Sift! 📸: @jolynn_redmond_photography. • #makermonday #meettheartist #meetthemaker #jewelrydesigner #handmade #supportsmallbusiness
Artisan for Life
On top of being featured on their Instagram, I also recently won their Artisan for life giveaway. This allows me access to all the premium features on their website. If you are a maker or artist, I am inviting you to join the community to connect with other markers and artists like yourself and to support one another. It’s relatively small right now but it has been growing steadily as they’ve increased their interactivity, added new features and fixed a few bugs since the initial startup. Being a part of something that is developing is always great.

FAT VILLAGE ART WALK
If you’ve been keeping up with me, you know that I have been vending at FAT Village Art Walk every last Saturday of the month for about 2+ years. If you don’t know, let me fill you in.
This month FAT Art Walk will be on Saturday, March 31st from 6pm to 11pm in Downtown Fort Lauderdale. There will be many local vendors, food trucks, dogs (because everyone loves dogs), alcohol (please don’t spill any on vendors’ tables), fun people and lots of ART. Word of advice, art studios start closing down by 10.
Also, stop by IS Projects, a printmaking and book arts studio. Talk with the artists whose work are featured in their studio. C & I Studio which is across the street from where I will be located will have DJ’s this weekend.
Where I’ll be
I’ll be in THE GOODS FTL! I have included extensive details on where you can find me here. I created a customized google map with my locations a couple resources that may be helpful to you.
